3.5 million sandbags (17,500 tons of sand) plus 170,000 cubic yards of clay and 20,000 cubic yards of gravel were used to fight the flood.

90 percent of Grand Forks was evacuated.

100 percent of East Grand Forks was evacuated.

Grand Forks had NO water for 13 days and NO drinkable water for 23 days.

More than 200,000 volunteers came to the community to help clean up and rebuild.

60,000 tons of flood debris were hauled to the Grand Forks landfill.
